AutoCAD Just Got Better!
Autodesk AutoCAD 2019 is officially here! The new updates made to this edition of the software prove to add greater utility to AutoCAD 2019. These new features and functions may not seem very glamorous at first glance but once you realise how all of this can help you with your projects, you’ll be very impressed with the way it’s all come together.
The first and most important update to this AutoCAD 2019 software is the implementation of specialised toolsets. The official name for these toolsets is AutoCAD One, and thanks to its introduction you will gain access to the different AutoCAD products through AutoCAD 2019 itself. From this point on, when you purchase this software you also get access to these other products in the form of specialised toolsets like:
- Architecture Toolset (previously AutoCAD Architecture)
- Electrical Toolset (Previously AutoCAD Electrical)
- Plant 3D Toolset (Previously AutoCAD Plant 3D)
- Raster Design Toolset (Previously AutoCAD Raster Design)
- Map 3D Toolset (Previously AutoCAD Map 3D)
- MEP Toolset (Previously AutoCAD MEP)
- Mechanical Toolset (Previously AutoCAD Mechanical)
Now that they’ve been converted to toolsets, you will find it more convenient to work the useful tools above. Note that the installation process remains unchanged, you will have to go about acquiring these toolsets in a manner similar to when they were treated as products.
Of course there’s much more to this edition of Autodesk AutoCAD 2019 software. AutoCAD One just happens to be the most exciting update. You will also be able to find a much more modern and sophisticated approach to the User Interface (UI). The changes aren’t drastic so you’ll settle in comfortably. For example, one such change is the switch from gradients to flat design language. You’re likely to have an easier time identifying icons thanks to this change. Another UI convenience is that the Status Bar icons now have blue backgrounds (similar to the Ribbon), making it easier to keep a check on them.
Another big improvement to AutoCAD 2019 is the introduction of an all new Draw Compare tool. At first glance it might seem fairly similar to a tool by the same name found within the Architecture Toolset; however Autodesk has gone through the effort of building it from the ground up so it’s a different tool. While both are used to compare drawings and make note of differences, the Draw Compare feature in AutoCAD 2019 has improved performance, affords you with greater control, and lets you make use of different colours to draw distinctions between drawings.
The AutoCAD 2019 version of this tool also provides you with a few other options. You get to decide whether text and hatches should be considered during comparison, you can also include information about the respective files (filenames, who saved each file last, when either file was saved as a table.) Automatic Revision Clouds are another amazing aspect of this software, which highlight the edits you’ve made to the drawings. It’s fairly flexible in the sense that you could either use a revision cloud for every edit or change you make, otherwise you can use the adjustable margin to categorise multiple edits within a singular revision cloud.
Collaboration is also greatly improved thanks to shared view functionality within Autodesk AutoCAD 2019. You no longer have to worry about converting your DWG files into other formats just so everyone has access. Thanks to AutoCAD 2019, you can simply send a link to any relevant parties, such as stakeholders, and through the in-browser Autodesk Viewer they can immediately take a look at the drawing(s) and then review, measure, comment, etc. however they want.
Autodesk AutoCAD 2019 software builds on the already powerful base of AutoCAD and serves to increase its efficiency by helping you save more time on your projects.
